This struck me recently:
January being the beginning of the calendar year is something we humans made up!
And, when we did so we put the beginning of the year right smack in the middle of Winter which as a season is not usually a time for new beginnings, but rather slowness, hibernation, rest, reflection.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a good resolution or a new beginning (anytime!) and if January has you in that mood, seize the moment! BUT, if what feels more fitting right now is the stuff of Winter, then give yourself permission to sink right into that too because that would be a very natural and valid choice.
A note about coaching with me, it’s never about pushing you into doing something because the calendar or season or any social pressure is dictating it, but it is about getting clear about what is truly going to be useful for you. Sometimes that might be a bit of hibernation, other times it might mean leaning in and taking action on something where fear has historically held you back and still other times it might be not doing the thing because it’s actually not aligned with what you want and where you are going.
Whether you’re in hibernation mode or eager to start afresh, here are a few reflection questions to kick off 2025:
What are you in love with about your life right now, as it is?
What are you proud of your self for?
What are you learning?
What is Winter inviting to you to?
What are you letting go of? And what will you carry forward?
Here’s to tuning into YOU!
