How To Prepare For A Coaching Session

  1. Come with a topic/situation that you want to you to focus on during the session. Some examples are as follows:

    • A current project that is stuck

    • A decision you need to make and would like to brainstorm about

    • Something specific you are wanting to change in your work or life

    • Another way to look at it/come up with a topic would be to choose a major area of life that feels out of balance (relationships, money, fun, career, etc) and pick one challenge or something in that area you want to be different

  2. Once you've chosen your topic, put some thought towards what would be a useful and/or ideal outcome from a coaching session on this topic. I.e. What would you like to be different?

  3. Find a quiet, private space free from distractions to show up for the call/video conference session.

  4. Give yourself a few minutes prior to the call to take a few breaths so that you can show up focused and present.

Note: Normally coaching engagements are over the course of some months and we would start by doing an inventory of questions we discuss together and create a desired outcome for the entire time of the coaching engagement. That said, the above guidance is relevant for both one off sessions and clients engaging in multiple sessions over times.
